BIRRA DEL BORGO (Italy)

Borgorose is a small village near Rome.  Here is the Birra Del Borgo brewery (literally "Beer from the village"), and next to Borgorose is the regional nature reserve "Duchesse Mountains" with many valleys, dense forests and a crystal clear lake.  Lorenzo Di Vincenzo began brewing home-brewed beer as a hobby while studying biochemistry at university.  Soon the hobby turned into work and Lorenzo decided to seriously focus on teaching brewing.  He traveled to Europe and discovered the old classical brewing schools.  He was greatly impressed by brewers from Germany and Belgium.  In Great Britain, he first tasted "real ales", also called "kaskovye", and he was especially interested in this variety.  Cask ales are lightly carbonated, quite strong, malty, and fruity.  At this moment, Lorenzo finally decided to open his own business.  This is how the history of the Birra Del Borgo brewery began, which is actively developing and growing.  Birra del Borgo works closely with cafes and restaurants.  In 2009, the construction of a new brewery was completed nearby, which became a testing ground for experimental brews and other innovative projects.  In 2011, Birra Del Borgo teamed up with Sam Calagione of legendary American brewery Dogfish Head Brewing to open a Manhattan-based brewpub that is rapidly becoming a popular destination.  Birra Del Borgo never stands still - during this time, new fermenters and modern lines for filling beer into bottles and cans were installed at the new brewery.  Since 2010, the new brewery has hosted a state-of-the-art R&D and quality control laboratory that is unique to all Italian craft brewing.  As part of her work, the brewed beer is tested at all stages, from the beginning to the end of brewing, so that brewers can be sure of the quality of the final product.  At the same time, on the basis of the laboratory, various research and development of new methods of brewing, the study of new yeast strains are carried out.
