The Brewery was started by Adolphe and Paul Verhaeghe as a brewery-malting company. In the pre-war period, the Brewery witnessed a great deal of activity. The sales activity of the then standard breweries was often limited to the surrounding region or even in a number of cases to just the village level. Viewed in this way, it can be said that the "Verhaeghe Vichte Brewery" did export at the time, albeit regional exports.
