SILLY ARTISAN BELGIAN BEER (Belgium)

At the end of the last century, a large number of farms in the Hainaut area were engaged in the production of malt and hops.  Scilly is a village located between Ath, Enghien and Soignies.  The river Sylle flows through it, after which this village was named.

In 1850, a brewery was opened in the village, originally named Cense de la Tour.  Now the 5th generation of people is working on it.

Since 1947, the brewery has been making more money than the production of beer ingredients (which is basically what everyone in the area was doing).  However, at that time, the brewery was producing only a few ales - Grisette, Saison and Scotch.

In 1950, when the brewery acquired its own small network of beer houses, it was decided to start producing bottom-fermented beer.  Thus Pils was included in the list of produced varieties.

In 1975, the brewery expanded its range by acquiring the Tennstedt Decroes brewery from Enghien.  Then lager and Double Enghien brown ale were added to the lineup.

Blanch Titje wheat beer was created in 1990.  This beer, along with Saison de Silly, Double Enghien and Divine, became the backbone of the business, which is still actively growing.
